The State of Indiana had the groundbreaking for their section of U.S. 24 from S.R. 101 to the state line on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.  Go to the State of Indiana US 24 Fort to Port Site for more information on this project.

It was announced on February 8, 2008 that traffic on US 24 will be diverted up and over the ramps at the Ohio 15/18 interchange in Defiance for three nights beginning Tuesday, February 11, 2008 to allow for demolition work.

It was announced that the Domersville Road interchange would open on Thursday, December 6, 2007.

The ceremonial groundbreaking event was held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 to begin the latest construction projects in expanding US 24 through Paulding, Defiance and Henry counties.

It was announced on June 6, 2007 that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) would hold a ceremonial groundbreaking event on Thursday, June 14, 2007.

Bids were opened on May 4, 2007 for the section of US 24 from the Indiana state line to US 127 in Paulding County.  Bids were opened for the section of US 24 between US 127 and SR 424 in Defiance County on April 10, 2007. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation and its contractor for a section of US 24 have agreed to construct a temporary road to provide access for emergency vehicles during closure of SR 281 at US 24 east of the City of Defiance.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced on April 6, 2007 that it would conduct a public meeting to discuss the ongoing and upcoming construction of US 24 in Paulding, Defiance and Henry counties.

A March 28, 2007 news release announced bids were received for the construction of four-lane US 24 between US 127 in Paulding County and SR 424 in Defiance County.

In a February 22, 2007 news release it was announced that there will be an auction for excess land parcels which were purchased as part of the right of way acquisition process for the expansion of US 24 through Paulding County.

In a January 31, 2007 news release it was announced that tree cutting for the remaining US 24 projects is underway.

In an October 20, 2006 news release farmers were asked not to plant in the proposed US 24 right of way needed for the expansion of US 24 in Paulding and Defiance Counties.

On October 18, 2006 it was announced that Miller Brothers Construction, Inc. is the apparent low bidder for the section of US 24 from Defiance to Napoleon.

On September 21, 2006 Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) voted to return the US 24 Paulding and Defiance Fort to Port Projects back to their original 2007 schedule.

On July 25, 2006 the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) decided to recommend to the Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) that the projects to expand and relocate U.S. 24 through Paulding and Defiance counties be reinstated to their original 2007 schedules.

On June 30, 2006 the Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) approved the 2007-2012 major new construction program.  The section of US 24 from US 127 to SR 424 is scheduled to sell in July 2007 with construction beginning that same year.  The section from the Indiana State line to US 127 is scheduled to sell in July 2009 with construction beginning that same year.

On May 3, 2006 Governor Bob Taft broke ground on a new section of U.S. Route 24 from State Route 424 in Defiance County to just east of State Route 15 west of Defiance. The new 2.2-mile section is the first of the Fort to Port projects, which will upgrade U.S. 24 to a four-lane highway from Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Toledo.

An April 2006 news release gives details about the May 3, 2006 groundbreaking ceremony for the section of US 24 from US 424 to just east of SR 15 which is west of the City of Defiance.

In a March 22, 2006 news release, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced that E. S. Wagner is the apparent low bidder for the section of US 24 from SR 424 to just east of SR 15 which is in Defiance County.

A January 17, 2006 news release discussed tree trimming along the section of US 24 from SR 424 to just east of SR 15.

A January 5, 2004 news release gives information on the decision to construct a new connector road between West High Street and Ralston Avenue on the west side of the City of Defiance as part of the upgrade of US 24.
